FAITH
Daily Mass, weekly Benediction, and monthly Confession are at the foundation for the faith and devotional life of our students. In addition, Providence Academy offers these opportunities for students interested in deepening their faith and devotional life.
ALTAR SERVING
GRADES 3-12 | BOYS
The sacred liturgy of the Church is integral to our school’s life and necessary for our mission, and therefore we take the liturgical formation of our students very seriously. Through the students’ participation in the worship of the Church, their thoughts, affections, memories, and imagination are permanently shaped by the sacred liturgy and the liturgical calendar. Moreover, the grace of the sacraments is necessary in order for our students to become the young men and women of virtue and holiness that we are assisting parents in forming them to be.
Boys and young men, grades 3-12 serve at the altar at daily Mass in rotating shifts throughout the year. Students are trained to serve at Mass with great reverence and care. Training and daily serving is overseen by a senior head-MC.
Through the reverent model of serving that students are trained in, they are taught to render to the Blessed Sacrament adoration, to the priest reverence, and to the rites of the Church respect. Our hope is that, through the experience of serving daily Mass at Providence Academy, students would be formed in the virtue of religion and future vocations fostered.
CHRIST’S COMPANIONS
GRADES K-12
Christ Companions is a tradition at Providence Academy in which each student is assigned to a house beginning in Kindergarten and remains in that house throughout their time at Providence. Students participate in a variety of scheduled activities within their houses and earn points for virtue, academic achievement, and athletic performance over the course of the year. At the end of the academic year, the house with the most points is named House Champion and is honored with a plaque on the trophy cup.
The four houses are named after different ways one comes to truth, as depicted in the Vatican Room of the Segnatura: Vulgate House (Theology), Phi House (Philosophy), Lyre House (Poetry and the Arts), and Stamos House (Virtue).
