Classics Festival - February 15,
2008
The first annual
Classics Festival was a great success. All the parents
were so pleased to see the fruit of their sacrifices and of
the work which their children have put into their studies.
Mr. Gutierrez was also able to announced the result of the
Lower School's IOWA test scores.
We are very happy with these results and look forward to see
how well our students perform when they are given the chance
to excel.
Christmas Celebration - December 20, 2007
All parents,
grandparents, and extended family were invited to join us for
our Christmas Celebration on the 20th of December at 6:30
PM in the Church of St. James the Less Parish.
It was a
fantastic evening, filled with beautiful carols and
wonderful opportunities to think on and about the great
mysteries of Christ's birth. Fellowship followed the
event in the gymnasium of the school. Copies of Mr.
Gutierrez' talk can be provided on request.
Feast & Fun for the Solemnity of All
Saints - November 1, 2007
This great holy
day of the Church was marked last year with a pot luck and
some musical performances by our students. This year's
festivities are still in the offing, but will no doubt be
great loads of fun. The students will again be allowed
to wear costumes of Saints.
Providence Academy Square Dance -
October 28, 2007
Details for this
event are still being put together, but a great deal of
headway has been made in trying to put together a fun-filled
evening for Providence Academy parents and students.
Please pay close attention to an announcement on the date
for the event.

Feast of St. Francis - October 4, 2007
The whole school
was able to enjoy a day of feasting and some fun as we
celebrated the Feast of one of the greatest saints God has
ever produced, St. Francis of Assisi.
Senior
Graduation - June 2, 2007
Anna Crater is Providence Academy's very first High School graduate.
Her graduation ceremony began with Mass at St. James the
Less Parish at 11:30 AM. This Mass was followed by
a short address by the Headmaster, Mr. Gutiérrez,
the presentation of the diploma, and an address by Miss
Crater.
After the
ceremony, all Providence families were invited by the Craters
and Providence Academy to join us in a celebration at
Copeland Park beginning at 1:00 PM.
Lower and Middle School
Graduation Breakfast - May 17, 2007
Our 5/6 Grade Class is graduating into the second stage of
the Trivium, the Dialectic Stage, and our 7/8 Grade
Class is graduating into the third stage, Rhetoric.
These are real and important transitions in our students'
academic progress. Therefore we celebrated their efforts and their development
through a Graduation Breakfast on May 17th.
Awards in Moral Leadership, Academics, Piety, and
Perseverance were handed out to students of both sets.
May Crowning at the Shrine -
May 10, 2007
Providence again this year took part in the May Crowning
procession and celebration at the Shrine of Our Lady of
Guadalupe. This is the second year we participated in
the event and we are overjoyed to be asked to be part of it
again. Everyone had a great time and, despite the
heat, was able to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Feast of St. Joseph -
May 1, 2007
In order to celebrate the Feast of St. Joseph the
Workman, Providence Academy made a trip to the Cathedral and
then to the Children's Museum. Because it is the
patronal feast day of our Diocese, the Feast becomes a
Solemnity, and we thought it appropriate to take a break
from school to celebrate.
.Wolf of Gubbio
Our first major production at Providence Academy
on April 20th and 21st, 2007, was a great success. The Wolf of Gubbio,
a one-act play by Mother Mary Francis P.C.C., made everyone
laugh and some even cry, as they watched the story of the
great St. Francis and how he dealt with the wicked wolf that
was terrorizing the people of Gubbio.
A special
congratulations goes to the Director, Mrs. Miriam S.
Gutiérrez.
IOWA
In April of 2006 Providence Academy’s students took part in the IOWA basic skills testing. As a school, Providence Academy scored in the 98th percentile.
